Spiritual Communion of St. Alfonso María de Ligorio
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there, and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
School Reopening
The Diocese of Fall River Catholic Schools Office announced today that all Catholic schools serving Pre-K through Grade 8 students will fully reopen this fall with in-classroom instruction five days per week. The four Catholic high schools in the diocese will announce their plans for re-opening on an individual basis.
While the safety and health of students, faculty and families are paramount, research has shown that in-person instruction offers the optimal learning environment. Moreover, each school has submitted a plan to the Central School Office that follows the guidelines set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Each school is able to follow the three to six feet of social distancing requirement and still provide 100% in classroom instruction. For students or families who have compromised health conditions, every school will also offer live streaming capabilities to ensure students choosing to learn remotely are still part of the school community. Positive parent feedback of the Catholic school remote learning experience started immediately and continued through the end of the 2019-20 academic year. While parents were highly satisfied with their child’s remote learning experience, there is consensus that students of all ages yearn for the sense of community provided by their Catholic school.
“We are so pleased that our students will be able to come back to the school they know and love this fall,” said Stephen A. Perla, superintendent of Catholic schools for the Fall River Diocese. “Our school leaders have worked extremely hard to ensure a safe and healthy environment for our students and teachers. They are just as excited to return to a building full of life with the activity and sounds of happy kids.”
Andrew Raposo, principal of Espirito Santo Parochial School, Fall River, added, “We are blessed with such a big building that can safely accommodate our students and more. We welcome any family who may have some concerns about their child’s learning experience and are interested in how our school could help bridge a learning gap.”
“Education is the hot topic this summer and we are so thrilled to return as close to ‘normal’ as possible,” indicated Mona Lisa Valentino, who is principal of St. John Paul II High School in Hyannis. “Our students are excited to be back in class in August to pick up where they left off in the middle of June. There is a very strong sense of community and we welcome all new families who may feel a need to change their child’s educational direction.” St. John Paul II High School announced their return to school plans earlier this week. Similar announcements will be made by Bishop Stang High School, Bishop Connolly High School and Bishop Feehan High School.

Offering Envelope Delay
Many parishioners have informed us that they have not yet received their new packet of budget envelopes. The Parish Office has contacted Waltz Envelope Company and informed them. The packets were mailed out by Waltz on November 30th. When they contacted the Post Office, they were told that “All mailings were held in processing to prioritize parcel mail. They are moving mailings now but with the back log there is no way for us to know when these will process. Due to the unprecedented volumes and staffing issues due to the pandemic there has been significant delays.”
We apologize for this inconvenience, hopefully the packets will begin to arrive shortly.

Also, to all donors, without them it would not have been possible this labor of love. Many thanks to our parish family for their selfless service to Pope Francis Place too.

Pipe Organ Renovation
We have received a special gift of $3,000.00 dedicated to the renewing of our church pipe organ. It is now somewhat operational, but not fully, we will continue to make repairs as the generosity of our music lovers come forward.
From our Parish History Book
“In 1927 Father Noon was able to obtain an extraordinary organ. It was purchased from Trinity Church in Boston. Originally built by Johnson in 1896, it was electrified and rebuilt by William Laws and Son when it was purchased by Father Noon. It is a four manual organ, containing sixty stops with a separate echo organ placed at the left end of the nave high above the sanctuary in the arched recesses. The organ has forty-eight adjustable combinations with three separate swell boxes. The echo organ itself has six stops and chimes, and is played from the main choir loft. A special cabinet was also provided to house the organ, decorated in the general motif utilized in the building. On this first Sunday, the organist, Mr. Joseph Fagan, who served the Church and God in that capacity for forty-seven years, arranged a special musical program.
Ceiling Leak
Upon investigation of our parish facilities we have come across a leak in the roof near the tower of the church. Deacon Thomas Palanza has been asked to coordinate a contractor for its repair.

DACA
On September 5, 2017, the President's administration announced that the DACA program was going to end. However, on January 13, 2018, U.S. Citizenship and Inmigrations Services (USCIS) announced that due to a federal court order, "USCIS has resumed accepting request to renew a grant of deferred under DACA" until further notice.
You need to know:
1- People who have EVER had (or currently have) DACA are allowed to file requests for DACA;
2- People who had their DACA terminated will be able to file requests for DACA;
3- People who NEVER had DACA will not be able to request DACA.
It is unclear how long this policy will continue- it could change any time. Therefore, it is recommended that all eligible individuals who had or have DACA to speak with a inmigration attorney immediatly to fing out what their rights are regarding this change in policy.
Catholic Social Services of Fall River may be able to help you with your application for free.CSS represents people on their DACA cases at no cost and has helped over 200 people with their applications. This service is only available to those who have ever had or currently have DACA.
